Major problems after jailbreaking iPod Touch 1.1.4
At close to midnight yesterday I noticed that there was now a new way to jailbreak version 1.1.4 of the iPhone and iPod Touch. My iPod Touch was still on version 1.1.1, I’ve put off upgrading it until now because it worked fine and I didn’t want to lose the MobileScrobbler application for listening to last.fm streams. This new method seemed to have a very high success rate using version 2.6b of ZiPhone so I decided to update to 1.1.4 and jailbreak it. After getting a BSOD the first time I restored my iPod and tried again, this time all went well. I added a few applications including the iPhone apps which are now available for purchase through iTunes for none jailbroken iPods(if they think I’m going to pay for a bundle when all I want is Maps then they can think again) .
I thought all had gone well until I tried to play a video and it gave me an error message saying that it could not be played. By this time it was close to 1.30am so I decided to go to bed and look at it again today. Well to cut a long story short and after several restores and breaks I found out what the problem was, the videos only refused to play after installing the iPhone apps. When I went into the installer application and selected the 1.1.4 iPod full Features package it stated that BSD Subsystem needed to be installed first, it was this that was preventing video playback and giving the error on the screen below.
I had seen a few repo’s mentioned for gaining the iPhone apps, I had been using applerepo.com so I tried one of the other, http://www.spaziocellulare.com/ispazio.xml . This time when I went into Tweaks (1.1.4) to install the package it gave no mention about needing BSD Subsystem and installed perfectly. I now have a jailbroken 1.1.4 iPod with the Apps Pack and FULLY WORKING VIDEO.

Today while looking through the ilounge forum I noticed someone that had the same problem as me with video’s not playing after installing BSD Subsystem. It was suggested that after installing BSD Subsystem if you go into settings – general – reset and then reset all settings video will begin to work again. I thought I’d give it a try, after all if it fails I’ll just have to restore again. Well after installing BSD Subsystem I restarted my Touch and tried to play a video first before I reset all settings and it played fine. Now I’ve done nothing differently to what I did last week when it wouldn’t play. So I can’t confirm or deny whether resetting settings will work or not because I didn’t get that far, it does mean however that now I’m able to install apps that wouldn’t install before.

i have the same problem but im in 1.1.3 what can i do?
I’ve never used 1.1.3 so don’t know what you can do to fix the problem apart from update it to 1.1.4 and then follow the procedure above that I did to get video to play.
i too have the same problem and music won’t play either, i have downloaded the BSD Subsystem from Apptapp Official and it still hasn’t worked
Tom the only thing that worked for me was to restore the ipod, jailbreak it again and NOT install BSD Subsystem at all. There are now a few apps that i can no longer install because no BSD but they are ones I can live without.

I used d same method as u did to jailbrk 1.1.4… But when i get into tweaks 1.1.4 i m jus able to see 1 apps which is “Youtube activator 1.1.4″..how do i install maps, mails, weather etc?
I m not able to install MOST of the apps in the installer as it throws an error msg sayin “its for version 1.1.1″
I was able ti install only 1 summerboard theme “blackwood” n i m not able to see any icon of this app..i m screwin my brain since last nite on how to use the installed theme?
Wht shud i do now?
Sam have you added the ispazio repo? without this you wont get the mail,maps etc package showing in tweaks 1.1.4. Also make sure once you’ve added it that shows up as iSpazio Official unter the category of iSpazio within the Sources section. I entered it a few times and it was listed as Unknown, or Uncategorized. As well as the repo location I names in the above article you could also try repo.ispazio.net
Once it has worked you will also see a list of 4 different ispazio categories within the install section.
Also within tweaks 1.1.4 you will see a compatability patch, It says this makes 1.1.3 apps compatable with 1.1.4, I don’t know if it will make a difference to the 1.1.1 apps that your trying to install.

How can i use my theme which i have downloaded.. i m not able to c any icon for theme when i installed “blackwood theme”.. are there any order in which i hav to install apps after i jailrk it?
i guess u r aware of d ziphone 3.0 release… if i wish 2 jailbrk my 1.1.4 wid ziphone3.0 wht shud i do?

When I first added http://www.spaziocellulare.com/ispazio.xml into Installer it listed it as uncategorized, I removed it, added it again, still the same thing, thats when I tried the applerepo which screwed up my video. I tried spaziocellulare again the day after and it worked. So all I can sugest is to keep trying, or try http://repo.ispazio.net which I have seen mentioned but never tried. I’ve not read anything about ziphone 3.0 so can’t comment on that.
Now the themes problem. You have actually installed the Summerboard application havent you? you need this to be able to use summerboard themes. Once installed you will have an icon called SMBPrefs, this is where you select the theme you want then hit restart springboard within that applacation at the bottom. I have come across a few themes that dont seem to work though. All of the Summerboard built in themes do work so you can test that the application is working with those.

I hav got bosstools, summerbrd, categorize n iphone apps n how do i go wid customize apps? i hav got customize 1.21 n after i installed it i cud see d icon in ma springboard but there r no images inside any folder… its all empty.. shud i install anythin b4/after i install customize apps??

Glad you got it all sorted out now. Other than music and videos I dont use my Touch for much, the main reason I jailbreak it is to install mobilescrobbler so I can listen to last.fm.
For help with customize and chat your probably better off searching google for something like msn on iphone ipod touch or touch customize images.

i had the same damn problem but luckily, i found an app in installer that pretty much gave me a brand new YouTube application that literally worked faster than my previous app.
I am having trouble with downloading summerboard. I used ziphone and everything went as planned but when i try to download summerboard it gives me a error:package download failed! what am i doing wrong or not doing at all?
